When is Good Enough Good Enough?

Welcome back to another edition of Monday Meaning, a weekly newsletter where we share one helpful lesson, quote, resource, and question to help you get just that much closer to achieving your dreams this week.

Our goal is to inspire as many people as we can to live out their dreams in life. So if you don’t feel inspired to go for your goals after reading this week’s email… well, we didn’t do a very good job, now did we?!

Here’s what we’re covering this week: When is good enough good enough?

Alright, let’s get to it!

Lesson of the Week

If I’m being honest, one thing I’ve recently struggled with is the idea of being good enough.

For some reason, it’s been an insecurity of mine recently.

I’m afraid I’m not good enough to run my own successful business. I’m afraid I’m not good enough for those I care about. I’m afraid I’m not strong enough. Not fast enough. Not smart enough.

The list could go on and on and on…

Maybe it’s just a part of growing up and dealing with imposter syndrome. Or maybe it’s the fact that I’ve always been a bit of a perfectionist.

I have all these unrealistically high expectations for myself. So whenever I’m not perfect at something every single time, I beat myself up over it.

I know, I know I’m trying to get better at it.

So one question I’ve been asking myself lately is this: When is good enough good enough?

Because the thing is, if you’re anything like me you always want to be good at everything. You never settle for “good enough” because you want to be just that much better. That much more perfect.

But the reality is… perfection doesn’t exist, no matter how much you want it to.

So instead of striving for perfection, strive for progress.

Because getting 1% better everyday won’t make things perfect. But it’s enough to get you to where you want to be in life… one step, one small change, one improvement at a time.

And sometimes, that’s more than enough.

Just remember… you are Kenough (iykyk).

Quote of the Week

“Stop beating yourself up. You’re a work in progress, which means you get there a little at a time, not all at once.”
